The 27th Annual Florida Governor’s Hurricane Conference

The 27th Annual Florida Governor’s Hurricane Conference, which begins May 5th with training sessions, has its formal opening session on Wednesday May 8th at the Broward County Convention Center.

With 48 training sessions and 52 workshops, this conference remains the premier event for the delivery of economical training and education to ensure emergency management professionals within the state have the ability to adequately respond to, and recover from, tropical events. This year’s training sessions, workshops and general session will not only look at lessons learned from last year’s tropical events, but will also focus on innovative methods for “Moving Forward in Changing Times.”

Among those set to speak: Gov. Rick Scott, Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Bryan Koon, Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate, and National Hurricane Center Director Rick Knabb.

The conference will run through Friday May 10th, 2013.
